Fascinating! I'm sorry you've lost out on so many old friendships, but in comparison to the freedom you have gained, I'm sure you feel it's worth it! There we go- your next book, right there on your conversion. Go, go, go!
I believe there is ........ I love what the church did for me as a husband and father ........ it wouldn't be a hack job - There are a lot of former members of the LDS church who write very "angry" books - that's not me .......... how bout I write what I've found ........ and maybe, just maybe, others who know me or are stuck like we were can take the step in finding something else .... I will never ever write a slam job book on the LDS church ......... There's a lot we Christians can learn from them as well .......... They're great people ........
I can't ever imagine you writing a bitter word, Matt. But I do think it would be such an encouragement to see how your faith has blossomed and grown...
It sounds like you could write a story that could help Christians understand how your experiences with LDS shaped who you are today. I agree, it can be written in a way that doesn't criticize LDS.
Exactly Narelle - and like I said - there is some good in the people and their practices that we, as Christians, could surely incorporate into our lives ..........
Someone recently wrote - and I never thought of it this way - that My Emily is a book for wives to see how a man deals with this particular scenario .... Never thought of it this way - I really don't know how many men really have read My Emily but I would venture to guess not many .....
Oh dear author friends, it's 6:15pm and apparently my family need s feeding. Utterly inconvenient. Contrary to the belief that we live in igloos in Canada, it's a piping hot 37 degrees, and I've been avoiding my kitchen at all costs... looks like I now have to go and do my motherly thing! It's been a blast- blessings to all, and a huge thank you to Matt and Emily, and I'm SO looking forward to that next book of your.... Take care everyone!
Thanks, Matt for writing My Emily. I think you are right, that it does give wives a perspective on how men deal with illness/death. I'm looking forward to reading your next book! Take care, everyone, until next month!
Thanks Matt and everyone for a great discussion. It's time I sign off and start my writing day. I wouldn't mind some of your hot weather - we're in the middle of cold winter.
